Medical PhysicistRole SummaryRadiation Oncology Associates, an independently owned physician practice, is seeking a clinical Medical Physicist to join our team in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The successful candidate will have the chance to work with an Elekta Flexitron HDR unit which includes treating with cylinders, tandem and ovoids, and Syed interstitial. -In addition to the Flexitron, ROA has two Varian Truebeam linacs utilizing external beam treatment which includes IMRT/VMAT, SBRT, and SRS. ROA houses a GE Discovery CT. The ideal candidate will provide services at our Fort Wayne location, located on the Lutheran Hospital Campus, in addition to our satellite location in Warsaw, Indiana, typically one day a week. This is a great opportunity for a physicist looking to work with a close-knit team of experienced physicians, physicists, dosimetrists, and therapists. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: - - - - - - - -Assist with planning, checking, and delivery of external beam and brachytherapy radiation therapy treatments for patients. - - - - - - - -Perform initial and weekly chart checks of patients under treatment. - - - - - - - -Perform monthly and annual quality assurance checks of linear accelerators and other equipment. - - - - - - - -Attend the operating room for brachytherapy procedures. - - - - - - - -Provide consultation to physicians and dosimetrists, including BED calculations, review of contours, fusions, etc. - - - - - - - -Assist with planning of brachytherapy and stereotactic treatments. - - - - - - - -Develop procedures and software tools for the initial and continuing evaluation of radiation therapy treatment, brachytherapy, simulation, and radiation measurement equipment. - - - - - - - -Develop equipment specifications and assist with acceptance testing and commissioning of clinic equipment. - - - - - - - -Help maintain a Quality Management Program that monitors, evaluates, and optimizes radiation oncology processes. - - - - - - - -Perform required training and education and keep abreast of new scientific methods and technological developments in radiation therapy. - - - - - - - -Assists with planning and participation in supporting programs (i.e., chart rounds, safety meetings, and M&M review) to ensure effective and safe use of radiation. - - - - - - - -Assist with renewal of ACR accreditation with maintaining proper records and correspondence pertaining to quality control and quality assurance, calibration, radiation safety and compliance with State and Federal regulations and standards of accrediting bodies. - - - - - - - -Act as a resource for all clinic staff on technology questions. - - - - - - - -Work after-hours as needed, to complete quality assurance tasks. -QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:--- PhD, DMP, or master's degree in Medical Physics--- Certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR), the American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP), or Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM)--- Board eligible candidates will be considered.
